ABOUT US
Our student-led organization focuses on empowering Hispanic students and other students of minority communities by advocating for more accessible post-secondary education opportunities and providing resources, mentorship, and support for their personal and professional growth. We seek to accomplish this mission by arranging weekly campus tours for public schools in the Mecklenburg area, primarily Title I schools, to expose students to a college environment. Additionally, we organize information sessions for parents and students that cover numerous topics on how their child can prepare for college, as well as how the parents can prepare for the transition. Our HCAP leaders serve as mentors and resources for first-generation students seeking support in their journey towards accessing a college education. At UNC Charlotte, we host general body meetings to create a community of student advocates on campus who share a personal mission to help others in achieving their academic goals.
Our Mission
To empower Latinx and minority students by advocating for a higher level of education and to provide information, guidance, and support, for their personal and professional development.
Our Vision
To increase the amount of Latinx and minority students to achieve post-secondary education and therefore develop a more diverse and professional community.

"I joined HCAP because I love what this student organization has to offer to our community. HCAP offers campus tours and bilingual college informational sessions that work towards empowering Latinx students to achieve higher education. It is not that Latinos or minority students do not have the power to achieve post-secondary education, but it is because we lack the resources to teach these students how they can work towards achieving higher education, and HCAP does a great job in making sure these students have the resources and information they need to achieve this.

"I wanted to be a part of HCAP because I understand how important it is to spread awareness about college to first-generation, minority students. Being a part of HCAP will give me the opportunity to help students with applying to college along with sharing information about my college journey. I would like to help students and motivate them to achieve a higher education after high school.
