WE ARE

The Hispanic College Awareness Program [HCAP] is a student-led organization on campus that seeks to bring college awareness to minority students and their families. We do this primarily by bringing K-12 students from Title I schools to UNCC  to have a discussion about college and the possibilities it can bring to one’s life as well as to give them a tour of our campus and answer any questions they may have. Since this organization was started by Hispanic and Latino students and is still composed of mostly, if not all, Hispanic and Latino students, we are also acutely aware of the fact that first generation Latino students face many struggles in their path towards attaining higher education. One way that we seek to address this problem is by hosting two events every semester titled Noche de Padres and Tour Para la Familia.

Our vision: To increase the number of Hispanic students in the higher education system, and therefore developing a more diverse professional community.

Our mission: To inspire Hispanic students by advocating a higher level of education, and to provide information, guidance, and support for their personal and professional growth.
